Galvanized gabion is the most widely used type gabions. It is made
of galvanized steel wire with different zinc coating, according to
different zinc coating weight, the galvanized gabion can be divided
into hot dipped galvanized and electric galvanized gabion.
Electric galvanized gabion. It has thin zinc coating, which is no
higher than 90 g/m2, the zinc coating has outstanding corrosion and
rust resistance performance to resist the environment element. The
most important characteristic of electric galvanized gabion is
economical. It is suitable for the customers which has tight budget
and want the good quality products.
Hot dipped galvanized gabion. Hot dipped galvanized gabion has the
zinc coating weight higher than 200 g/m2, and different wire
diameter may be different. The thick zinc coating make the hot
dipped gabion resist the harsh environments, even in the chemical,
salty, rainy and other corrosive environments. Hot dipped
galvanized gabion is widely used in the coastal, riverway
controlling and other heavy duty and corrosive applications. Though
the cost is higher than the electric galvanized gabion, but the
longer service life and good appearance and performance are worthy
for the cost.

Woven gabion is made of various materials wires and then twisted
into hexagonal mesh types. the woven gabion can be different twist
types.
1.Double twisted woven gabion is the common seen and most widely
used type. It can satisfy the common applications in the project.
Triple twisted woven gabion has higher tensile strength and
stability than the double twisted woven gabion. It is suitable for
heavy duty applications.
2.Galvanized welded gabions. Weld the joint of the neighbor wires
and form flat panels with a series of square meshes, which is
called galvanized welded gabion. The galvanized welded gabion is
solid and rigid enough to resist the large impact from outside
conditions. It is widely used for landscape constructions,
fireplaces, retaining wall and other decorative and functional
applications.
Corrosion Protection:
The wire used in manufacture of Gabion includes corrosion
[protection of wire by way of Zinc Coating (galvanizing) of Galfan
Coating usually according to EN10244-2 Table II Class A or other
international standards.
Additional Corrosion protection is sometimes required for harsh /
sultry / wet conditions. In such cases, wire, prior to
manufacturing the mesh, is coated with a special PVC, PP or PA
coating as per EN10245 to enhance corrosion protection of the
Gabions and the Structure. Better protection against possible
corrosion is obtained so the gabions become more suitable for use
in marine or polluted environments.
